Kohler Company is expanding its generator facility to meet increased demand for large generators
A 155,000-square-foot project is currently underway at the company's existing North American generator manufacturing facility in the town of Mosel, according to a news release. The new space will house a customer experience center, more warehouse space and increased production and testing space.
The expansion will help meet the growing demand for integrated power systems and large industrial diesel generators — greater than 2,000 kilowatts. Kohler Co. is the only manufacturer creating these types of generators at a single facility, the news release said.
In the new space, assembly, testing and enclosing of large generator sets will be safer and more efficient, the release said.
“This strategic capital investment helps us achieve operational excellence in product development, manufacturing capabilities, and supply chain efficiency to ensure we are positioned to meet increasing demand and grow market share for many years to come,” said Brian Melka, group president of Kohler Power, in the release.
Kohler Co. has seen a decade of sustained growth, the release said, and the expansion helps Kohler continue to grow in key markets such as data centers and health care.
The coming customer experience center will showcase Kohler's 101-year history of Kohler Power, said Charles Hunsucker, general manager of Americas & Data Centers for Kohler Power Systems, in the release.
Since 1920, Kohler Power has manufactured complete power systems such as generators, automatic transfer switches and accessories for emergency prime power and energy-management applications.
